HSE Coordinator

We're looking for a motivated HSE Coordinator to join WaterNSW on a Full-time, 18-month maximum-term contract and help support the systems, processes and initiatives that keep our people safe and our operations running effectively. From coordinating HSE reporting and records to developing communications, supporting management system documentation and contributing to continuous improvement projects, you'll play an important role in strengthening our safety culture across the organisation.

What you’ll do:  

• Support the delivery of a strong and compliant Health, Safety and Environment Management System, helping drive key processes and ensuring actions, investigations and assurance activities are completed effectively and on time. 
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date HSE records, reports and documentation, including incident reporting, hazard management, risk assessments and compliance information. 
• Coordinate and deliver engaging HSE communications across the business, helping to build awareness, strengthen safety culture and keep employees informed and connected. 
• Assist teams with risk assessments and hazard identification activities, helping ensure risks are effectively managed in line with WaterNSW's policies, systems and obligations. 
• Partner with leaders, subject matter experts and employees to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and support the implementation of initiatives that enhance safety and environmental performance. 

What we are looking for:   

• Qualifications in Health, Safety and Environment, such as a Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety or a relevant tertiary qualification 
• Sound knowledge of Work Health and Safety legislation, codes of practice, risk management principles and HSE governance processes. 
• Experience working with HSE Management Systems (Mitti / SafetyCulture – highly regarded), including compliance monitoring, reporting, assurance activities and audit support. 
• Practical understanding of risk assessment, hazard identification and corrective action management, with the ability to support safe and compliant workplace practices. 
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accurate records and documentation.

WaterNSW operates the state’s dams, capturing and storing water, and then supplying it ready for distribution – for the environment, agriculture, industry and the community. With 41 major dams and hundreds of waterways across the state, we play a vital role at the source of the state’s water, delivering two thirds of all water used in NSW.
