Location: We are open to considering having the successful candidate based anywhere in Northern NSW where we have an office. This includes: Armidale, Dubbo, Goondiwindi, Moree, Narrabri, Tamworth.

 

Salary: Starting from $112,408 base + super

 

Tenure: Full-Time, Permanent

 

What we are looking for: 

 

  • A strong desire to contribute your skills and expertise to our business 
  • Someone who is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander decent / identifies as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and is accepted as such by the community in which they were born, has lived or currently lives  
  • A commitment to promoting and preserving Aboriginal culture and value 
  • Qualified Electrical Supervisor Certificate and Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician
  • Demonstrated maintenance expertise in heavy industry or utilities environment, with hands-on expertise with PLC programming and field controllers
  • Proven capabiity undertaking field operations and maintenance activities involving instrumentation, controls equipment and associated electrical and mechanical equipment. 
  • Demonstrated ability to fault find and resolve issues end-to-end, from SCADA servers through to site instrumentation
  • Proven ability to manage time and work commitments to meet required deadlines and comfortable working independently in remote and isolated locations
  • Willing to participate in an on-call 24/7 roster, providing support remotely or on-site when required
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence

What you will work on:

 

As an Instrumentation & Controls Electrician, you will lead the maintenance and optimisation of automation, telemetry, communications, and electrical infrastructure, providing specialist technical expertise to ensure the reliable, accurate, and efficient delivery of bulk water across WaterNSW’s network. Your key responsibilities include:

 

  • Asset Management: Ensure the accurate and efficient implementation, configuration, and maintenance of field-based instrumentation and control systems on a daily basis, including computer hardware, communications networks, communications towers, site controlling devices, power systems and instrumentation to achieve the availability requirements of the SCADA system for users.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and resolve electrical and automated system faults to minimise downtime for the Automation, Telemetry, and Communications Systems and associated assets.
  • Data Capture: Capture and store data to provide data for the maintenance management system and other related service systems. 
    Specialist knowledge: Provide specialised technical advice and site-specific knowledge for planning, conceptualisation, testing, implementing and security of the Automation, Telemetry, and Communications systems to reduce implementation risks and optimise performance.
  • Corrective Maintenance: Plan, procure, and manage instrumentation and controls maintenance projects, including the efficient and effective utilisation of qualified contractors, to achieve productivity and quality outcomes, and ensure that all contractors are trained and qualified to enable the safe and effective operation of infrastructure, monitoring and maintenance of sites. 
  • Procurement: Ensure procurement of goods and services are in accordance with WaterNSW’s procurement policies and guidelines within approved financial authorisations using a computer-based procurement system, to meet financial responsibilities.
